State Testing Week
April 24 - May 5, 2023

ABLE students will have state testing from April 24th – May 5th. The California Assessment of Performance and Progress (CAASPP) is given annually to all students in grades 3-8 & 11. Students are assessed in the areas of English Language Arts and Mathematics.  Students in grades 5, 8 & 11 will also be assessed in science.

The week of April 24 – 28, students will be taking the English Language Arts assessments.  The week of May 1 – 5 students will be taking the Mathematics and Science assessments. ALL testing will occur from 8:30am – 11am, every day from April 24 – May 5. It is VERY important that all students attend school EVERYDAY during state testing. If you need to pick up your student early from school during state testing weeks, please do so AFTER 11am.

Be advised that students may NOT have access to their cell phones during the testing. It is strictly prohibited.  Students will be expected to place their phones in their backpacks and away from their testing area.

You are an important part of your child’s education. To help your child get ready for the tests you can:

  • Talk about the test with your child and assure them they do not need to feel anxious.

  • Tell your child that you and their teacher have high expectations and are both there to help, every step of the way.

  • Please make any necessary appointments before after 11am so that your student does not miss any class.

  • Be encouraging and positive during these testing weeks.

  • Adequate rest and a healthy breakfast can benefit your student. All students have access to a healthy breakfast before school. Please encourage your students to eat breakfast every morning during state testing weeks.

If you would like to preview sample questions, you can access them on this site. The Smarter Balanced Practice Tests and Training tests are available for your student to take. Over the past several weeks, your student has already completed several of these practices test.

Thank you for making sure your student is ready to test. With your help, we can ensure that your student is provided with the best opportunity to succeed and demonstrate everything they have learned this year. This is their time to shine!
