Recommended Steps for Families


Medical experts recommend the following to minimize our exposure to colds and flu and to prevent the spread of these illnesses – including coronavirus.


Staying Healthy During a Heavy Cold and Flu Season

You may be feeling worried about the spread of the coronavirus, COVID-19. Given the widespread media attention, it is understandable that families feel anxious about the spread of the coronavirus, COVID-19.

  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water.  Remember to clean the ‘webs’ between fingers and thumbs.

  • Use hand alcohol-based hand sanitizers regularly, too.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Stay home when you are sick.  Consult your doctor if your symptoms worsen.

  • Don’t return to work or school until you have been fever-free without the use of fever reducing medication for twenty-four hours.

  • Cough or sneeze into a tissue if possible and throw the tissue away.  If tissue is not available cough or sneeze into the inside of your elbow.

  • Avoid others who are sick.
