Schoolwork Instructions & Procedures

The health and safety of our students, staff, and community is our top priority at ABLE Charter.  Second to safety, student learning and success is our priority.  We are committed to ensuring that all our students continue learning during this unfortunate school closure.

We will distribute paper packets with one week’s worth of assignments for students off all grade levels beginning Monday, March 16th. 

During the first week of a closure our teachers will work diligently to prepare additional assignments, in case the closure continues, and to check in regularly with students and families.  Should the closure last longer than one week, Elementary students (TK-4) will continue to receive paper based materials while Middle and High School students (5-12) will have assignments posted online in Schoology.  We will also have paper copies and alternatives to digital assignments available for students of all grade levels who do not have reliable access to the internet.

The following procedures outline how families and students will receive assignments and materials during the school closure. 

  1. Families may download work from home school materials from the “Work From Home” page of ablecharter.net or may pick-up these materials on campus. 

  2. For the schoolwork pick-up we will create a drive thru in the Humphreys Parking Lot.  Parents will drive up, indicate student names and grades, and receive packets with work.  We will also have a walk-up option available.

  3. The packet drive thru will be open on Monday, March 16th from 10am-1pm, and on Tuesday, March 17th from 7:30am-10:00am and from 2pm-4pm.

  4. In the event of an extended closure additional messages will be sent out to announce when future materials pickups occur and where Middle and High School students can access their digital materials.  Note that paper materials will still be available for Middle and High School students without access to the internet and technology at home.

  5. Schoolwork will be sent out in one-week increments.

  6. Parents and families should regularly check email, ABLE Facebook page, the school website, and phone messages for updates regarding schoolwork and any new information.

 

UPDATE: Once your student is complete with their schoolwork packet for the week, we encourage you to keep it in a safe place (manila folder, envelope, or filing cabinet). Once school recommences, students will be responsible for submitting all completed packets to their teacher or Advisor.

Any families unable to pick up materials from the school should contact the front office at (209) 478-1600.  We will work to find alternative methods to provide materials to your students.
