Elementary School Model
Work from Home (digital learning) model for our TK-4th grade students.
Letter from Principal
Hello ABLE Elementary Families,
I hope this message finds you all in good spirits and good health. I would first like to thank you for your cooperation and patience during this time of uncertainty in our daily lives. I am sure that you have all shared in the concern surrounding what these new circumstances and school closure means for your ABLE student and how we will continue with a distance learning model moving forward.
In collaboration with our amazing TK-4 faculty and the curriculum and instruction team, we have developed the next step in our Elementary distance learning model that will move students along in content by adding a digital component.
While teachers will continue to create academic enrichment packets for distribution, they will be adding new standards driven content via virtual mini-lessons each week, uploaded to Class DoJo. Teachers will be hosting small group instruction via online platforms as well as office hours for parents. Here is a glimpse of what you can expect from us:
Continued distribution of enrichment packets
Standard driven instructional ELA and Math video lessons once a week
Specials (Science, PE, Art, and Music) will host youtube channels with weekly activities provided for students.
Digital Resources log-in information will be provided by your child’s teacher.
To make the elementary distance learning model work, we do need parent participation. A weekly opportunity menu/lesson plan will be provided to you by you each week by your child’s teacher. Each activity is an opportunity, not an expectation. The more students complete each day, each week, each month moving forward will better equip them to make a smooth transition to the next grade level in the fall. We highly recommend participation.
Please communicate with us as much as possible if the tasks and activities become overwhelming for your student and/or your family. We want to respect family time as much as possible while doing our very best to move your child along academically. Our goal is to offer as much support to our families as possible at this time. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher, the counselors at ABLE, or myself at any time.
