Message from ABLE Superintendent Clem Lee

March 30, 2020

Incidents of COVID-19 are accelerating in San Joaquin County and across the nation.  San Joaquin County’s most recent local emergency order dated March 26 - reiterated in an advisory to local schools on March 27 - calls for schools to remain closed until further notice.

This validates ABLE’s continued unwillingness to publish a fictitious reopening date while focusing on serving students and helping families.

We are proud of our students, families, faculty, and staff for their

perseverance, resiliency, and creativity!

Staff will be planning for a transition from the Learn-From-Home model to something more interactive, although many teachers have already been very creative in working with students.  We will have more information soon as our learning model evolves to meet the demands of this extended closure.

An Important Note for Seniors

We can’t know the extent to which senior activities will be cancelled, but while the Governor’s

shelter-in-place order remains in effect and schools remain closed we know we will have to make

final decisions on certain events very soon.  Uncertainty will almost definitely mean cancellation, but

we will delay decisions as long as possible.  You will be informed immediately of cancellations.

Any payments received will be refunded.  The one thing that is certain is that you will be able to earn your diploma at the end of the current school year ON TIME.  Stay in contact with your teachers,

contact the school if you need help, and continue to do your assignments.

ABLE’s Promise to Students and Families

Under the supervision of their teacher(s) students will be provided with academic work throughout the closure.

Students may access their work online.  Hard copies of assignments will be available for pickup, too.

Students may expect regular contact from their teacher(s).

Families may expect regular contact from ABLE liaisons.

Students may pick up meals on a drive through basis every school day from 8 am through 1 pm.

(If possible, call 209-478-1600 ext. 4007 to let us know you’d like to participate in meals.

All students are welcome.)

Students with special needs/IEP’s can expect contact and support from ABLE’s support team.

Seniors’ ability to graduate on time will not be jeopardized by the school closure.

(Seniors, stay connected and do what you are asked to do!)

As a preventive health measure, please do not stop by the school office unannounced.

Call first to see if we can help you without a visit.

If your child HAS Internet access but experiences a computer problem, contact the ABLE help desk: support@ablecharter.com

If your child can’t access the Internet, call the school: 209-478-1600.

If there is anything your family needs, please do not hesitate to call us!
